Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 delivered an absolute thriller in its 29th match as Washington Freedom (WF) convincingly defeated MI New York (MINY) by 5 wickets Chasing a steep target of 188 runs, WF's batting lineup displayed phenomenal aggression to storm past the finish line in just 18.3 overs, leaving MINY completely stunned.

🏟️ PITCH REPORT & CONDITIONS

The pitch at Grand Prairie turned out to be an absolute paradise for stroke-play, especially as the game progressed. Early in the first innings, there was a bit of carry and bounce that kept the seamers interested. However, by the time the second innings commenced, the track completely flattened out with true bounce, allowing the WF batters to clear the boundaries at will. Spinners found very little assistance, making it a difficult night for anyone trying to control the run rate.

 FIRST INNINGS SCORECARD: MINY BATTING DETAILS

MINY got off to a bumpy start as opener Quinton de Kock was dismissed cheaply for 2 runs off 6 balls, followed by Monank Patel who scored 17 off 16 balls.

However, skipper Nicholas Pooran single-handedly shifted the momentum, playing a destructive knock of 86 runs off just 44 balls, smashing 4 boundaries and 8 massive sixes. K.S. Ballagan added a crucial 26 runs off 20 balls to anchor the middle order.

The rest of the lineup faced a major collapse as Kieron Pollard (3 runs), Romario Shepherd (2 runs), and T. Singh (4 runs) fell in rapid succession. Shakib Al Hasan played a quick cameo of 18 runs off 13 balls, while Trent Boult remained unbeaten on 6 runs off 3 balls to lift MINY to a strong total of 187/8 in 20 overs

Then came the storm. Andries Gous played a magnificent, match-winning knock, anchoring the chase with a sensational 96 runs off 54 balls, clearing the ropes with 8 sixes and 4 fours.

He was phenomenally supported by Rachin Ravindra who tore the bowling unit apart with a rapid 60 runs off 30 balls, striking at a massive 200.00.

After their dismissals, Ben Dwarshuis managed 6 runs, while Glenn Maxwell played a lightning cameo of 12 runs off just 5 balls (not out) alongside N. Chaudhary (3 runs not out). WF chased down the target effortlessly, finishing at 190/5 in 18.3 overs

Trent Boult was the most effective bowler for MINY, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan bowled a tight spell, picking up 1 wicket for 24 runs in his 3 overs.
